Facelina auriculata (Mueller, O.F., 1776)

Size: 4 cm
Depth: 12 m
Date 14 May 2005
Place: Numana, Italy
Dive site: Nicole Shipwreck

This nudibranch is easy confused with Facelina bostoniensis and i have been hesitating for a long time about its identification unless i found on the net keys to distinguish among them. Distinctive characteristics are three: first cerata cluster clearly divided from other cerata, a bron spot on the head (it's the esophagus) and a blish shade on rinophores and on the cerata. This said i believe the animals depicted in the photos above are Facelina auriculata.
